Aloha Friday — Hawaiian T-Shirt

The week's best invention: the day Hawai'i taught the whole world how to end it right.

The Story Behind Aloha Friday

Aloha Friday is the Hawaiian tradition — born in the 1960s and now observed across the islands every week — of wearing casual, relaxed aloha shirts (aka Hawaiian shirts) to work on Fridays as a nod to local island culture. The tradition was formalized in 1966 when the Hawaiian Fashion Guild launched "Aloha Friday" to promote locally made aloha wear, and it quickly became a beloved institution. By the 1990s, the mainland had adopted a version under the name "Casual Friday," but let's be honest: nobody does it like Hawai'i does.

Aloha Friday is more than a dress code — it's a state of mind. It's the lighter step in your walk, the extra smile in the break room, and the collective exhale of an entire island community shedding the weight of the week. Whether you celebrate it in a bold floral print or this tee, the message is the same: mahalo for another week, and cheers to the weekend ahead.
