House of the Sun Haleakala Volcano | Hawaii T-Shirt | Maui Crater Sunrise Tee
House of the sun. House of the volcano. Haleakalā built half of Maui, and its summit crater at 10,023 feet is one of the most quietly powerful places in the Pacific.
Haleakalā is a massive shield volcano whose crater spans roughly 7.5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide. The summit is alpine — silverswords (a plant found nowhere else on Earth) bloom once at the end of decades-long lives, nēnē (the endemic Hawaiian goose, also the state bird) walk the cinder cones, and the temperature can drop below freezing. In Hawaiian tradition, the demigod Māui climbed this mountain to lasso the sun and slow it across the sky, so his mother Hina could finish her work.
For locals, Haleakalā is the spine of home — visible from almost everywhere on Maui. For visitors, this tee is the crater sunrise, the thin cold air, and the legend of Māui you stood inside.
Soft unisex tee. Multiple sizes and colorways available.
