Molokai Mule Trail — Hawaiian T-Shirt

The steepest sea cliffs in the world, one sure-footed step at a time.

The Story Behind Molokai Mule Trail

The mule ride down Moloka'i's Kalaupapa Trail is one of Hawai'i's most unforgettable experiences — a 3-mile descent down the world's tallest sea cliffs, switchbacking 1,700 feet to the isolated Kalaupapa Peninsula below. The mules navigate 26 tight switchbacks with calm expertise while riders cling on and try not to look straight down at the Pacific crashing against the base of the cliffs.

At the bottom lies Kalaupapa, a historically significant settlement where people with Hansen's disease were once exiled by the Hawaiian Kingdom beginning in 1866. Today it is a National Historical Park, a place of profound resilience, beauty, and remembrance. The trail down is adventure; what you find at the bottom is something much deeper.
