Poi — Hawaiian T-Shirt

Poi is more than food — it is the living pulse of Hawaiian culture, pounded by hand and shared with love.

The Story Behind Poi

Poi is made by pounding the corm of the kalo plant — the sacred elder sibling of the Hawaiian people — until it becomes a smooth, slightly fermented paste that has nourished Hawaiian communities for centuries. Traditionally prepared on a papa ku'i 'ai (pounding board) with a pohaku ku'i 'ai (stone pounder), the process is meditative and communal, connecting those who make it to every generation that came before.

At a traditional Hawaiian table, an argument is never allowed while poi is being eaten — out of respect for the sacred nature of kalo. Poi anchors the Hawaiian diet and the Hawaiian spirit alike. Whether you're a poi purist who likes it fresh and thick, or someone who was brave enough to try it on their first trip to the islands, this shirt is a delicious tribute to one of Hawai'i's most beloved staples.
