The Story Behind Ho'okipa

Ho'okipa Beach Park sits just east of Pā'ia on Maui's north shore, on the way to the Road to Hāna. It's one of the world's most famous windsurfing spots, where consistent trade winds and powerful north swell create perfect conditions from November through March. Honu (green sea turtles) haul up onto the sand most afternoons to rest — they're protected under federal law, and visitors keep their distance. The cliff-top lookout gives one of the best surf-watching views on Maui.
