Lāna'i — the Island of Plenty, the Pineapple Isle — once held the largest pineapple plantation on Earth. Even now, with the fields long retired, the heritage hums in the red dirt and in the names on the storefronts.

In 1922, James Dole purchased 98% of Lāna'i and planted some 20,000 acres in pineapple, building Lāna'i City as a plantation town in the center of the island. At its mid-century peak, this one small island grew 75% of the world's pineapple, harvested by Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Portuguese, and Native Hawaiian workers whose grandchildren still live in the original plantation cottages. The last commercial pineapple harvest came in 1992, but the soil remembers, and so do the people.

For Lāna'i locals, this design is a banner of plantation pride and a chosen-family heritage. For visitors, it's the tee that remembers a small, slow island — the red-dirt back roads, the quiet square in Lāna'i City, the spiky icon of a fruit that built a whole place.

Soft unisex tee. Multiple sizes and colorways available.
