An ukulele on the table and a lei across your shoulders — that's the universal sign that the meal is about to begin and nobody is in a hurry. In Hawai'i, food and music are not separate departments.

The ukulele arrived in Hawai'i in 1879 with Portuguese plantation workers from Madeira, who brought a small four-stringed instrument called the machete. Hawaiian musicians took to it instantly — King David Kalākaua himself was a passionate player and helped make the ukulele central to the Hawaiian Renaissance of the late 19th century. The lei, far older, predates Western contact by centuries — flowers, ti leaf, kukui nuts, shells, each kind carrying its own significance. Together, ukulele and lei mark the moments that matter: arrivals, lū'au, weddings, family meals that stretch into the dusk.

For locals, this design is a portrait of the gathering rhythm — music, flowers, food, family. For visitors, it's the tee that holds the sound of strumming from across a lit lanai while the rice is still warm.

Soft unisex tee. Multiple sizes and colorways available.
